Hi Reader! I'm sitting here with my second cup of coffee, looking at the calendar and realizing our family has been on break since Thanksgiving when our co-op ended its fall semester. Sure, we've done some math here and there. But mostly? We've just... lived. And now I'm staring down the reality that a new routine—and co-op—is around the corner. You know that feeling? Maybe you're still in "vacation mode," your kids are building forts and not thinking about doing lessons, and you're wondering what it would look like to begin the "gentle start" next week or maybe you’re heading into next week already thinking… you're just... behind. Here's what I've learned after 15+ years of homeschooling (and a lot of messy Januarys): The post-holiday restart is one of the hardest transitions of the entire year. And if you're parenting an out-of-box learner? Multiply that by approximately one million. Because it's not just about getting back to "normal." It's about:
And doing all of this while your own brain is whispering: "Should we be further along by now? Is everyone else doing better than us? Am I enough for this?" Friend, I see you. January isn't about pushing harder. It's about starting gentler - with support, with community, with someone in your corner who gets it. What if, instead of powering your way through another restart, you had: ✨ A professional development roadmap designed specifically for your homeschool journey This is what our EverBe – professional development for your homeschool year is about! And this winter we're kicking off with our seasonal book club, starting with The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi—because if there was ever a book designed for homeschool moms trying to navigate the post-holiday, post-amazing-break restart, this is it. Winter enrollment is now open, and we'd love to walk through this season with you. If you’re ready – you can join us here - Join EverBe Professional Development for Home Educators. Over the next few days, I'm going to share more about what makes this program & community so special, and how we can help you build sustainable rhythms (not rigid routines) that actually work for your family. And…if you're reading this thinking, "But Michelle, we haven't done real school since Thanksgiving..." Stop right there. That's exactly the kind of thinking we're going to gently challenge together. You're not behind. You gave your family the gift of presence, adventure, and connection. Now let's figure out how to ease back into learning rhythms without the guilt or pressure. And we'll show you what that looks like. More soon. Your Friend, |

Hi Reader! Yesterday I told you about that post-holiday restart feeling. The one where you're trying to get everyone back on track but you're still recovering from the post-holiday activities and trying to get the house back in order. (If you still have your Christmas tree up - you're not alone!) Today, I want to shift your perspective on something. What if January isn't the "catch-up" month? What if it's actually the advantage month? Here's what I mean: When you start homeschooling (or join a...
Hi Reader! I'm keeping this quick. I know you're juggling a lot right now. I just wanted to pause and wish you a peaceful, joy-filled holiday season. I hope you're finding moments to breathe, connect with your kids, and maybe even rest a little. As you wrap up this year and look ahead to the next one, here's what I'm envisioning for you... I see you feeling more confident in your homeschool decisions. Not second-guessing every choice or comparing your days to everyone else's. I see you...
